Over 400 global members of the International Coloured Gemstone Association including the President of the Association Benjamin Hackman are scheduled to participate in the 16th Congress which is to be held from 16 to 19 May 2015 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel. "This congress is a congregation of industry leaders in the gem and jewellery field, it also serves as an opportune meeting for the members and non-members both internationally and locally to garner knowledge and expertise on new trends," said ICA Ambassadoe to Sri Lanka, Mr. Altaf Iqbal.
As the Sri Lanka Gem & Jewellery Industry move forward with arrangements for the ICA Congress 2015, final contracts with partner organizations were signed at a recent ceremony. Contracts were signed with Favourite Holidays represented by Mr. Ishan Munaweera & Park Street Mews represented by Ms. Shenali Dias. Present were Chairman ICA Congress 2015 Mr. A.H.M. 4th September 2014. The 2015 Congress Committee launched the promotional video and informational brochure for the 16th ICA Congress at the opening ceremony of the ‘FACETS Sri Lanka International Gem & Jewellery Show’. The annual event proved an ideal opportunity for the launch announcement with over 150 stall holders and over 100 international buyer delegations attending the show from across the world. Registrations for the congress commenced at the ICA Stall at the event.
Golf and tennis are the usual sporting events at ICA Congresses. However following numerous requests from overseas members and to celebrate the fact that Sri Lanka is a great cricketing nation, the host country is planning a cricket tournament as part of the fun events in the run-up to the congress. The tournament will be held on May 16th at a cricketing venue in Colombo.
Golf and Tennis will also play an integral part of the sporting events, one of Sri Lanka’s leading Golf clubs, The Royal Colombo Golf Club will host the Golf Tournament and the Tennis Tournament will be played at Cinnamon Grand Hotel Tennis Courts.
